Sugarland!!!

We are at the Sugarland concert tonight and having a great time! Allie and I are here with Brian and Shirley, today's their anniversary by the way, and I'll be honest with you I am not much of a country fan but I do believe that is changing. Currently listening to Little Big town and I do believe that I will have to get their album.
All that aside, I got up to take a pee break and afterwards stopped by the souvenir stand and I kid you not they are asking $30 to $40 for a T-SHIRT!!!
Really?!?! WTC!

"Wouldn't it be cool if..." the thoughts of my 3yr old.

This is how my son, Ben, has been starting a lot of his thoughts to me lately. One of the most recent ones went like this, "Daddy! Wouldn't it be cool if we made a giant robot that could take us to the store and turn into a robot and we would sit in it's eyes. And after we got there it would change back into a robot and squish bad guys!...that would be awesome!!!". And my only response to my son is yes... it would be awesome!
It absolutely amazes me everyday the endless imagination and enthusiasm of children, my son in-particular.

Hometown heroes... are you one?

I was listening to NBC Nightly News recently and it was towards the end of the show during the segment "Making a Difference" that really caught my attention. The town was Grafton, Wisconsin and the whole town rallied around a single mom who has been diagnosed with cancer and her twins that have been diagnosed with some form of spinal atrophy disease that will confine them to a wheel chair for the rest of their lives. The town rallied and raised the money and the volunteer labor to make her home wheel chair accessible, something that she couldn't do being a single mom dealing with cancer on top of the kids.
This seems to be a truer display of the new testament church than any church that I have seen currently. And this was not even a "church" effort, this was done by a caring community trying to uplift one of there own during these trying economic times. Definitely a lesson there for today's church. We are not a social club, we're not a fashion show, and it's not a contest to see who can get the most members, the most funds or the biggest building. The church should represent and be the example for the community. Reaching out to a member of the community when they are in need and even when they are not in need. What has your church done lately for those around them, and for that matter what have you done for your community as well. It only takes one person to change the world, will you be that one?
But that's just my opinion...what's yours?

A kind act...

So yesterday I was going to be the nice husband and while my wife is at work go pick up her car and clean it. And with a 3yr old in tow on a regular basis did it ever need it! I head to the American Pride carwash to empty the VAST amounts of trash and begin the vacuuming of the car, when the manager of the car wash comes over. Jim, the manager, asked if there was anything that he could do to help and i said "No, i'm just cleaning out my wife's car to surprise her." So he says "let me take a look and see if I can help.". So he looks at the carpeted floor mats and says "You need my help I can clean those mats like new.". Me being the cost concious individual said "Nah, that's not necessary.". To which he replied "Shut up and give me the mats!". Needless to say I was a bit flabbergasted by that response. My only response was "Yes sir!".
This man proceeded to clean the mats and strike up conversation with me. It turns out that he does this part time and works as a corporate chaplin as well. And it turns out that his daughter's mini van made mine look clean and that I shouldn't be to worried. Jim was quite possibly the nicest man I have met in a while. Not only that but he is a Christian man sharing his faith through his actions and life. Sadly this is a rarity these days as so many Christians tend to border on the obnoxious and offensive when sharing their faith. To clarify what i mean by that statement, we as Christians tend to prefer the bible thump method over the meeting the needs method that Christ gave us as an example. To often we feel more comfortable to quote verses to those we are trying to reach than take the time to meet them where they are at, meet their needs and SHOW God's love through our actions. I want to thank Jim for having such an active faith and most importantly thank God for using this man to bless me.
James 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

The coming of the storm!!!

In the potential wake of the "snow storm of the decade" for Raleigh I headed off to the local WalMart for my groceries nothing out of the ordinary. When I went in around 8:45 am not much of a line @ all. Cut to scene 1 hour later while I'm cashing out, and there are lines like crazy! It amazes me how people will flip out about the "threat" of snow!

Fun Times in Daddy Land!

Have you ever had one of those mornings where everything was just going perfect and then your 3yr old son says literally seconds from pulling into the daycare, "I gotta go potty daddy!" which in actuality translates to "I am in the process of peeing my pants daddy, could you change them for me?". Yeah... that's where I'm at today! Yay team Daddy!
